red footed tortoise confusion
Ok so I have been having a hard time trying to pinpoint exactly what type of tortoise I seem to have. I am almost completely positive that I Have a red footed tortoise. However, he is going through a color change that I can't seem to find in any photo or description. Currently his carapce is dark with yellow spots on the center of each scute, but hes going through a growth spurt and is slowly showing yellow and black mottled spots. But I can't find that documented in any article that I looked up. There is a smaller "cherry faced" red footed tortoise that he might be but I am having trouble trying to find a photo of that as well
He isn't a yellow footed tortoise either. the scales on his head are all wrong.

I thought red foots were bigger? Is he a young un? We had a red foot tortoise at my job once that was a good foot long from front to back. I'm clueless about tortoises so I'm not sure.
