Is it possible
Hey guys and gals. I just wondered if it was possible to buy a Galápagos tortoise? If so...Where? I looked a little bit and didnt find anything. |

All subspecies of galapagos tortoises are critically endangered. Because of this, you are going to have a very hard time finding one available, and an even harder time convincing the federal government that you need them.
So... Not very available to private keepers.
Jeff Gee has some. You might contact him if you are very serious. http://www.cbwf.com/ I don't think he sells them, but he could probably answer any question you had about them. |

You can get captive bred specimens fairly readily but you MAY need state permits and you WILL need federal permits (Interstate Commerce at the least). Jeff could answer more questions. But I would not consider them without some serious dedication to the project as they will need ALOT of space and they will outlive you.
