Painted Turtle + Constipation
My 5 yr. old painted turtle has been eating normally,
but not pooping. This has been going on for about a week,
and I'm worried he will toxify himself. Any suggestions?
I feed him Reptomin sticks and some small pieces of
fruit.

Re: Painted Turtle + Constipation
I believe with turtles it takes a few days or sometimes weeks to digest food and poop.... so usually if they poop, it was from a meal they had several days ago.
If he's really constipated you might try feeding him some of the food sticks dipped in mineral oil every time you feed him for the next few to several feedings.. he may or may not take to it. If nothing happens a vet visit may be in order.
Good luck with your turtle... painted turtles are some of the greatest pet turtles to have.

Re: Painted Turtle + Constipation
not really. esp. aquatic turtles, they carry so much bacteria!
though many people do house small tortoises (like greek ones) and uromastyx or bearded dragons together.
