That's an adult female Gopherus berlandieri, or Texas Tortoise.
.
Have a great day.

Here's a cactus flower pic from the same area today..
.

.
The Opuntia cacti are a major part of the habitat in many places near here, without it many animals could not survive. Note that the flowers in the 1st photo are more orange.. it's all the same cacti. In this part of Texas the yellow and red-flowered examples are found.. plus the orange intergrades.
.

That is just breathtaking! Texas really has some of the most beautiful plants and animals in the world. I cant wait to move!
( I could go without the mesquite!! Although it is part of what makes Texas, Texas)

Seems like nearly everything in texas either has fangs, stingers or thorns. It's some tough herping terrain lol. Even the grass bites!

I go through a Camera now and then.. and I have to go on E-bay to buy another old-clunker that I'm used to! All the new-fangled cameras are like video-games!.
.
But the real workout is for the pigeon that carrys the camera around! (oops, I guess that's me).

I agree Gus, those new cameras are like trying to fly an airplane!!
Too many gadgets and buttons..
I always liked the older Minoltas or Nikons like what we used in yearbook in High School. They always took great pics, had manual zoom instead of auto..I hate auto, sometimes it all gets distorted on me for some reason.
My HP digital takes decent outdoor pics in natural light, inside is a different story. I never thought of Ebay though, may have to check that out later.
