Sleeping Tortoise

I have a russian tortoise that is approx 11 years old. He usually gets up around 8 am, eats, then digs another hole and sleeps for the entire day. He might wake up in the afternoon and take a stroll around the house for about a half an hour but usually he just sleeps. I've never really worried but I guess I just want to know if it is typical. I've never hybernated him, and I do not really intend to. I guess I was just wondering if this is typical for a russian tortoise. I would hate to find out that he was sleeping so much due to being ill.

hmm Since I posted this so late, I'm assuming everyone didn't see it. I'll give it another go to see if anyone has any idea's, BESIDES that he is tired from digging holes.
