They're still out!
Despite our low nighttime temperatures (dipping down in to the lower 30's), this Northern Red-bellied Cooter (Pseudemys rubriventris rubriventris) isn't convinced yet that summer is over.

I have no experience with turtles, but that is definately the prettiest one I've seen so far (I think I've only seen like, 4 kinds). Great picture. I rescued a, gopher turtle I think it was, not too long ago from my bf's pitbull. The poor thing was so scared it peed everywhere when I snatched it up. The dog wouldn't have really hurt it, just messed with it. It was a good size.

Gorpher Tortoise...they are endangered and federally protected so don't get caught in possession of one 
Nice Shot John! I love the mirror effect. Maybe the phrase "crazy as a coot" should be "crazy as a cooter" The birds seem to have more sense than the turtles lol. |
