Shell rot?
Hey,
I just received two baby eastern painted turtles from a lady that was moving and couldnt take them with her. But something i noticed when they were in their new habitat is that peices of their shell(every square on their shell) were coming off and a new shell was underneath. Do they shed their shells? Or is this shell rot?
Thank you....

*DISCLAIMER* I am no turtle expert, but my red ear use to do that and he never had a problem, I dont know if its called shell shed or not but they did it often. I think shell rot is soft dark spots.

Turtles, especially young growing turtles will shed their scutes fairly often.
