Turtle shell found, how to clean it?

I was herping through on the shore line of a local lake when I came upon a shell of a past away Common Musk Turtle. I kept it but I want to clean it to enable handling and education with it. I was just wondering if anyone on here knows a way to clean with and get it sainitary enough for handling?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi, wondering if you still need ideas. I usually wash my shells out with lots of water, and a little soap or mild detergent, using a cloth or old scouring pad to scrub. Then just leave to dry. This seems to be quite good enough if you're thorough. Remove any bits of what might be flesh. As long as all that remains is the skeleton, the shell and bones, it should be okay. I haven't had any problems with smell before. The danger in using a strong cleaner is that it may corrode the brittle calcerifous structures, especially if they are old.
