Actually for either species hasn't been recorded in your area for quite some time. You actually should take it to the DNR and have it recorded for future feild surveyes. Great Find!!! Even better rescue!!!

I actualy seen some turtles like that when I went paddle boating with the wifey today at the zoo. They were resting on a branch. Looked very similiar to that, but might not be that exact species.

after looking at a bunch of pics i think it is an ornate. the eastern's have a V shape in the shell just above the head, where mine doesn't.

It's an eastern box turtle (Terrapene carolina carolina). Eastern box turtles have the high arched shells and evidence of a middorsal keel. In the Ornate box turtles (Terrapene ornata ornata) the top of the carapace is flat, sometime even slightly concaved. The middorsal keel is not present. The markings of ornata are bold, see:
