What is the best feed..?
dark leafy greens to feed my painted turtle? In all the caresheets it just says " dark leafy greens" but dont specify, any one know? any other information would be helpful thanks

spinach, mustard, turnip, romaine.
But, i've kept numerous painted turtles, and have never seen one that excited about greens.
They always seem to prefer earthworms, small fish, crayfish, etc.
But ive only kept northerns.

my turtles eat crickets, freezedried shrimp and feeder fish. i never tried greens. anyone had any luck with it?

yeah I don't know about leafy greens for a painted turtle. From time to time I can see it, but they are a more worm, feeder fish type feeder.

Thanks you guys, I fed him some spinach the other day and he liked it, right now i also feed him some earth worms, chopped up grated carrots, and a aquatic turtle food stick that is supposed to give calcium and vitamins and stuff but this weekend i get to make my trip to the pet store so i am going to get him some crickets, meal worms, repti cal, etc. is he to small to eat feeder fish? he is only a baby, no bigger than a quarter o btw he is a western painted turtle I will post pics as soon as i get them lol

He's probably big enough to eat small feeder fish, like guppies.
They are more meat eaters when young, and most turtles become more omnivorous as they mature.

he is like the opposite he dont eat the worms as much as he dose the spinach and the carrots should i be conserned? maybe he just dont like earth worms I am getting some meal worms this weekend and some crickets and i will look into a couple feeder fish thanks everyone
