Tell me what I need to know for Redear sliders

A friend is giving me 2 Redear Sliders for free. So I will give them to the boys. (of course I will be taking care of them!) What do I need to know about them. What kind of husbandry, how forgiving are they, best foods etc. I will be reading up on them but want first hand advice. Thanks all
Dani

oh boy are you going to have your ahnds full!

Are they babies or adults?

If adults they are going to need a lot of room. Preferably an outside enclosure because of the requirements necessary.

There is a RES caresheet in the caresheet section here on RTB. Just click the link at the top of the page there.

Good Luck

My mom said she hears that turtles transmit disease. Is that true? Or is it one of those just wash your hands things?

I have 5 baby RES turtles that just hatched last week. They're in an 10-gal aquarium with a heater and filter. I plan to set them loose in the spring, so hopefully they won't outgrow the tank by then.
