They are different species.
Even if taxonomy is wrong as many think and they are reclassified as the same species but different subspecies, it would be along the lines of crossing BCI with BCC.

Bert knows what hes doing. Hes not an "idiot" because he bred 2 different morphs of tegu. Like he said, they live side by side. Its like humans and a 2 different races. So now you dislike races eh? Sounds a bit wrong to me.
Argue all you want, but he is the smartest tegu person and I'm happy that he was the first one to hatch the egg.
As a mater of fact, I'm on the list of buying one when I can get him the money. They are about 2-3 months old now and going fast.

Maybe you should buy Berts dvd to see it live. He went to argentina and filmed it. Then you can see he is right. Hes not assuming, watch the video....

so freaking what. you are just one of the many who "take issue simply to take issue"
give me ONE GOOD REASON that this should be frowned upon.
they are being bred as pets.
there is no genetic damage.
no diseases that go along with it.
the wild populations will never be affected.
there is always a demand for morphs.
i've never seen the harm in hybridizing anything as long as it's for captivity only.
so again, give me ONE good reason.

SO WHAT. again, why does it matter at all? how is anything affected outside of the pet trade?
the only reason you don't see more natural morphs is that the animals are a certain way so that they can hide from predators. when they're odd colors (albino, hypo, etc) they're usually found by predators sooner (it's hard enough to survive already). sometimes, odd morphs dont' get a chance to breed either. birds especially suffer from this.
you people make it sound morally wrong when morals and ethics have NOTHING AT ALL to do with it. hybrids/morphs don't affect wild populations and the animals that are bred for color/pattern aren't nearly extinct or anything. a lot of times, you end up with a beautiful animal. get over it.

Here's a reason, but only you can decide if it's good enough. Many of the reptiles we keep come from parts of the globe affected by deforestation, illegal collection, indiscriminate hunting, and other threats. Even if a species is not threatened at the moment, the wild population status could quickly change due to any of those factors, civil war, or even a natural disaster. It is concievable that one day a species or "morph" will sudde | |
