UMMMMM.............. isnt that a LIVE rat? It even looks like the tegu took a bite on/near the 'snout' about 30 seconds into that massacre. I am not sure about monitors but ARENT YOU SUPPOSED TO BE FEEDING PREKILLED OR F/T?
It's kind of a cruel way to die for the rat otherwise not to mention the injuries that may be inflicted on your animal. And diseases?
I might be wrong about it Like I said No tegu experience but I'm thinking that I am on the right train of thought with this one.

I think these kind of videos might be hurting the argument for keeping reptiles in some states...... Even if you have to feed live, I dont think showing it to the mass media is a good idea.
Just my thoughts, but I really dont think that any self-respecting true herp keeper/breeder would advertise that.
Sorry if I stepped on any toes.....

I figured that it wasn't yours by the way you said that you hope yours gets this big. Just wanted to make sure the f/t info was on the thread incase someone stumbles onto it and doesn't know that its not the best way to do things.

RehabRalphy cries and holds back his anger...
I do undertstand your new to tegus, but don't wish those kind of things. Its not good on the tegus part and surely painfull on a living prey item.
I'm holding back this time. I wont start anything.

Don't get me wrong, I fead live a few times. But its really not a good habbit to get in.
Some of my tegus prefer live. They wont touch anything pk or ft. For instance: I have a picky blue tegu who will only eat live mice.
But if your tegu will take FT, then thats the way to go. I kind of took this post in a wrong way too lol.
No hard feelings,
Mike
