they are more tame then most dogs or cats.
Nico--my male goes to education presentations with me...children in wheelchairs hold him and preschoolers play with him...they both rock. They are not in cages and when I put Nico in the yard he walks around like a dinosaur

I do it at the children's schools--and sometimes groups come to tour the herproom---it just so happened that the special ed teacher fell in love with Nico and made me go around to all the disabled kids...he was wearing a little pink shirt and everything LOL

no--they aren't--but they could easily be housebroken if I put the time into it---the thing is the weather would only permit this at one point in the year.
I remember in NY they used to bask my the back sliding door and scratch at the door to go outside...they prefer to go do their stuff outside so it wouldn't be hard

Hey Nicole, could you paper train one or litter box train one? That my only concern about them. I don't want a huge turd on my floor in the middle of the night when I go to get a snack or something. That would be a big suprise

You better be planning a new cage or a free roam tegu in a few months. That thing will out grow the cage in a few months
