Great looking Tegu, if I ever end up getting a lizard sometime down the road it will definitely be a BW Tegu. Thanks for sharing.
p.s. I moved your thread to the Tegu section so it's no longer OT

awe what a cute widdle tegu

Will you keep him warm all winter?
You can try and feed him some bugs but don't be suprised if he acts sleepy all winter now....

Thanks all, Im not going to hibernate him this year.Im going to bump the light/temps in his cage up so he wont get to sleepy, I hope...I want to hold him and its sooo hard to leave him be.He was pretty scared last night when I checked on him but he was on his basking log. I have a towel across the front of his cage, but he can still hear all the goings on in the house.

Alabama time? I do know he has been outside all his life and never in a cage or around people so he is very scared..He was mellow the first day I think cause he was so disoriented from being banged around in the mail.

I hope he doesnt go to sleep on me. I have a uvb on him and a regular lightbulb. But so far he has stayed buried..I threw in some crickets(with cricket food) to see if I could get him out and about but so far he still hasnt shown himself..I am going to dig him out on Monday if he still is in hiding so I check on him......I dont really have anyplace cool to put him for hibernation. My basement gets below freezing and my attic is to warm..

Nicole, how long did take for yours to start eating? He tried to eat a superworm this afternoon but I scared him(my hemostats moved) so I put them in a bowl and he wouldnt touch them....He is out and about though, and I have petted him, but he postured and huffed, but since hasnt even attempted to bite me yet thats a good sign....I figure Ill wait till next week to try and pick him up, at least till he gets used to my hand and movement...

don't bother digging him up--just leave him be...keep his cage the way it is and he will sleep anyway...if that is what he wants to do.
If you persist in waking him he will just get mad LOL
You can offer food but don't get too upset if he refuses and chooses not to come out of sleep. Yes he might be out and about today--only to get sleepy again tomorrow.
My tegu slept for months...I was bummed. I got so tired of looking at a mound of dirt I ordered a female from bert that he assured me was fully awake (it was that time of year) .
Nothings worse then ordering a tegu from OCT-JUNE. Especially if it's your first.
Hang in there. Maybe you'll have more luck because it's the start of the season...but don't ge too bummed out if you don't.
Sometimes they sleep no matter what.

Thanks Nicloe,He has been out now for two days..Only for a few hours each day though...Its like having a puppy you cant play with, its sooo hard not to touch...Im mostly worried about getting him tamed, if he sleeps all winter he will be like 8mnths old by next March..
