Twisted Tagu
A friend of mine has been having trouble with the tegu he bought. He's been biting for the past month, he dos'nt want to be picked up, and shows dominance in the cage by biting the sides of his hide box vigoursly when bothered. It's become aproblem for him as he's become afraid of handeling it now So I've taken him off his hands for a few months in hopes that I might be able to chill his attitude out a bit.
Jeremy bought him about 4 months ago he was ok then he did'nt mind being picked up and had little attitude. He started biting after an accident the tagu jumped out of his hands and thier dog started chasing and barking at it. Then Jeremy jumped to grab him and got hold of the tail. As you probably imagine the tail came off. He got ahold of him and he hasent been the same since.
Anyway's heres some pics
his names Onyx

I was wondering how much they eat. He's been feeding Onyx a calsium dusted mouse every week, is this enough? what else do they eat? I have newspaper down right now but what type of bedding should I use for him?

Thats a golden. They are pissy anyhow. I had one that was pretty big many, many years ago. Even after a year it was still mean and tried to bite me at every chane it got. And it did on several occasions.

Lol ya I figured as much, I had read up on them a bit I'm hopping with steady gentle handeling he'll calm enough so they won't be afraid of it anymore.

Oh my god I absolutly adore this little guy even though he's bit me about 15 times now. He's definatly gotten a little better. It's the third day and tonite he no biting just hissing whenever I rub the right side of his back or lower. He seems to really enjoy rubbing under the mouth, and he's opened up to letting me rub his left side.
