Better Check Ks

This new guy to the tegu forum on kingsnake tupinambis is down in Brazil doing research on tegus. He's come to the conclusion, along with a number of scientists who have published scientific reports, that blues are actually not an entirely seperate species of tegu, but are rather just merinae. Anyways read the posts for yourselves, it's great stuff. and the st. pierre's are getting really angry.

I would not be satisfied until I cleared this new info with Bert at Agama (who went to Brazil to acquire his original colony) . It's possible that the blue is a weaker (smaller/requiring higher heat etc) sect of the merinae, from inbreeding for color---but like I said I would want someone with whom I know very well (either personally or through some serious word of mouth) to back up this info.
If you have any links or copied documents I would pass it on to him to see what he thinks.
The blues and BL/WH's are so anatomically different---and require such different environments (and some say diets) that I doubt it. But I will not dismiss the info until I can see and read it for myself.
Thanks for the update though.

Hey Nicole,

I told him to run his findings by Bert, you should read his response. This guy seems pretty full of himself. I am intrigued by the findings, however, and if you read his previosu posts, they do lend some validity to the idea.
