Anyone used heat tape?

It's gettin a lil' chilly and I"m looking for a good way to just raise the overall, ambient temp of the cage. I've got her in the stock tank as most of you know by now, so I'm planning on running some heat tape along teh upper lip (out of her reach of course) hooked up to a rheostat. Think this will work? I just don't have room for any more friggin lights. I've got her night lamp on a thermostat over her burrow, and then a ceramic next to the mega ray flood over her basking area. I guess I could just buy a low wattage ceramic and put it over the middle of the cage?

I'm rambling...heat tape on rheostat or low-wattage ceramic on top in the mid-section?

Try and fit this in your mouth Mr. Anaconda

I have been using a kane's heat mat set on a thermo and they love it. I was using a CHE in the old house and might add that if the room gets too cold in the winter---but so far this seems to be doing it.

I would not place heat tape inside the enclosure. AC power inside an enclosure is never a good idea. It also seems that items placed "just out of reach" tend to become items just within reach. I would suggest making a lid for the stock tank to better utilize the heat that you're already producing. For my stock tanks lids I make a frame out of 2x2s and cover that with hardware cloth. The lights or CHE sit on the hardware cloth. Open areas on the stock tank lid are covered with heavy duty aluminum foil, keep in mind not to restrict air flow too much.
