warm grapeseed oil. It's thin enough not to cause problems and the consistancy is perfect to aid in shedding (it's great for people too).

lol are you saying i need it as well? lol yeah i'll definately try it out, on my tegu i mean, he loves to burrow, it's so funny, you cant see a single part of his body, not even his tail, i made sure he had extra bark so he can burrow as much as he pleased....he loves it, but he gets scared easily with loud noises or quick movements...i dunno how to help him step away from that fear, maybe it'll just take time....

They get to get so used to their surroundings that nothing fazes them at all...my don't move out of a spot unless they are on their way to the bathroom spot they choose , or on their way to eat or bask. Other then that they lay there and barely watch you step over them LOL
It's their world and they kindly share it with you

yeah thats true, my tegu is starting to get less flighty when i move too fast or he hears a loud noise, i'm also trying to get him used to my voice, which i noticed i wasnt doing before, he's making progress, he still has his flighty moments though, which i'm sure will take time to tame so it's ok with me, you said your tegu picks his bathroom spot? is it ever on your carpet? lol or did you train him to poo in certain areas?

I am not home on the right basis to train them that way--that and the seasons stop me from allowing them to go outside consistantly. They cose their spot here and they (at least mine) will never go on carpeting. Not sure why but they seem to like to sleep on fabric and poo on hard surfaces and water

If the tegu has nowhere else to poo BUT carpeting I'm not sure how he will react...mine had a choice between tile, wood and rug. I would put something down to try and train him....
are you putting wood in or tearing up the rug to expose the wood underneath? I had hardwood in my herp room in the old house and I practically ruined it for one reason or another---I now have that other stuff (that fake wood) in my herproom and the girls playroom and it rocks. I have hardwood upstairs in the kitchen, LR etc and it really sucks. The ceramic tile I have in the other rooms is better but much too hard and cold for the kids and the reptiles (and much more expensive). I forget the name of the flooring---prego---pago---something like that. MUCH better for any area requiring a durable yet softer --then -ceramic -tile surface.

ohhhh yeah we're ripping out the carpets and laying new wood in, everyone is having allergy problems due to the carpet so the hardwood will be installed soon, i have a wide walk in closet which i cleaned out and i allow the tegu to run freely in there and roam around, i think he likes it because he is always trying to escape his cage, i dont want to keep him confined i want him to have room to roam and the ablility to have lots of space....i think he likes it, but the idea of him roaming around in carpet scares me lol
