Just be aware that in sept they will be slipping into sleepy mode. There won't be much you can do about it either. You can raise the temps and tap dance they do what they want

I decided to get a tegu in feb ....I got Nico and was thrilled when I opened the box. He was adorable. Then I put him in his cage which was totally prepared---best bulbs (at the time)--lots of tunneling material....basking rock etc.
He went underground and did not come back out.
I put food in the cage faithfully each day. I had all the lights on timers...the ambient temps were kept up. Nothing.
I thought he was dead I dug him up. No he was alive....just #$%^$%^$%^$%^$%^$%^& off at me.
I emailed Bert---what's wrong with this animal?
Nothing Bert said--he will wake in a couple of weeks.
Long story short, it took MONTHS for him to wake up. I got tired of telling people that lump was a cool animal. Bert said it was an odd year all the animals woke up late--some still slept. I ordered another tegu that was awake--and female. Still Nico slept. He did not wake until JUNE. Some animals woke up in march.
It's not fun to order an animal, set up for it, get it and then not be able to SEE it for months.
In sept your getting one just at the start...mine start to eat less in august---
I always tell people to try and get one from may-july.
No matter what you will be emailing someone in sept asking---how do I keep him up???
Answer: you do what you can temp wise but basically they are on their own biological clocks.
You can't make them do anything.
