Thinking about it

I have read and read about the care, feeding and different kinds of tegu's. I am really thinking about getting one and I do know I do not want a Columbian and would be thinking about a Argentine B&W. I want one that is a yearling if I do get one and would like him/her to grow large over time. I seen that most people have recommended Bert because of prices and quality. I want it to get as large as possible. Can anyone give me a good suggestion?

Also how to tell my wife I am getting a very large lizard...lol
She dosen't mind the snakes and scorpions but I think this would be different because I like to let my animals roam around the house.

Just lie about the adult size and by the time the tegu begins to grow she will be in love with it anyway
They are remarkable lizards and truly "pets".
An Argentine BW are the longest ----buy a male. And ask for a chacoan. Females have egg laying issues that you don't need to deal with with the males. And the chacoans are gorgeous animals.
Buy one no later then mid august. Now would be better before the sleepy state comes (hibernation).

Well I would really suggest a hatchling so that you can accomodate to its size slooowly! But hey if thats what you want.

Keep in mind Argentinians are the tamest(supposedly) but are also the largest!

yea I just keep them from going in the bedroom. They tend to stay around the cage but some do go to the middle of the floor. I am going to build a big room for the Tegu and another room for the rest of the animals
