Forum suggestions

OK, now this is just a suggestion.......

After reading some of the posts in the "Resignations" thread, it seems to me people's apprehension about this site is that members attack, berate, or belittle them for questions that they ask.

While I have done this once (Snakemann87), I have seen it numberous times to both newbies and seasoned members by not only admins and mods, but other members as well.

My suggestion is to "sticky" to the top of certain forums, our collective views on said forums. The hottest "flame" thread has to be feeding, and the debate over live, f/k and f/t. Why not post a thread explaining the pros and cons about each and have it stuck to the top of the forum so anyone coming into the forum sees it first.

The attacks I have seen on this topic, I feel are not personal attacks, but are out of frustration about having to say the same thing over and over again. If we have our views on a certain topic posted, we can just point the person to the thread instead of getting upset at having to explain it all again.

I have done this in the FAQ forum with a thread on mites. I can put together one for the feeeding debate, and Ed_R has already done it for large snakes.

I think thats a good idea. I don't think it will stop the questions though. People that are new to the site will probably not know exactly how to navigate this site. But, if a Admin or a Mod can jump in real quick and explain to the person where the info is located, that might work. OR, how about a locked thread on how to NAVIGATE this site? Explain to people how to use the various functions on this site, where things are, etc... I think that would be a great idea. Whatcha think?

I have also replied to questions that are asked repeatedly be making a link to the same questions that have already been answered. I think Jim hit the nail on the head when he said &quot;but are out of frustration about having to say the same thing over and over again&quot;. Pasting a thread or two on the already answered topic will allow anyone to link the person to the answer without having to feel like a broken record.

Sound like a good idea Jim. The only thing I would suggest is to wait until the new theme and coding is done. Sticky articles about FAQs in specific forums would be nice.
