Military Forum

Hey Admins & Moderators, I've noticed we're picking up alot of miltary people on the site. Sometimes we need a place to vent and just get military crap off our minds. Let me know what you think of some sort of miltary forum. I'll volunteer for the monitor of the forum. If it doesn't go good we can delete it. Open to ideas.

Since this has been pulled up again, I'll give my opinion. Since the site is basically herp related, I see no real reason for having a specific "Military" forum. While there is quite a few military guys around, there is such forums as "Just Talk" and others to talk about such things. [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif[/img]

Even though I don't mind talking about the military and am very proud to be a veteran, I come to this site to talk about snakes. I really don't see a need for a separate forum. If I want to talk about the military, 'Just Talk' has already been designated for that type of post. $.02.

OK, so we do want a special miliary related forum section.

My sugestion is setting up a list of people that are willing to foster the reptiles of military personel that are called to active duty. I see a lot of for sale ads from military personel that are forced to seel their animals for just this reason. If they had a place to keep their animals until they return, it would go a long way to relieving the stress level of trying to find a home before they are shipped out. Sometimes they only get a few days notice and are forced to leaved the reptiles in shelters or with people who do not know how to care for them (the end result is they still end up in shelters).

With as many members that this site has, if we all get together, we cover most of the country and can help these brave men and women by caring for their pets while they serve our country.

Anybody interested in doing this has to realize that sometimes these military personel are gone for a year or more. This is not a small undertaking. It is a committment to care for someone's pet for an entire year or more.

Now this is just my idea, and all comments and suggestions are welcome.
