Here is some info, with the disclaimer that some of it may not be 100% correct, I'm sure someone can come along and clear up anything I get wrong...

Ranking a thread is mostly just useful to people who search the forums later. They can check out threads with particularly good ratings...so don't go giving a 5 star rating to every thread or to all threads by someone you like...The rating does nothing to the originator (used to boost their points, but points aren't active now). Of course I guess a good rating boosts their confidence
The arcade...you can't see the arcade....? If that is true it may be due to some problems we had with people only joining the site to play the games and leaving inappropriate comments next to their scores...but I didn't think we ended up making a minimum post count to play the games, I could be wrong, but even if a minimum was put into effect, your 275 would surely be over the limit, so I assume you mean you can't see the store...which is inactive. My friend used to play in the arcade all the time, but he had no posts at all.
