That is really cool, it just sucks that they only live for a year.

Re: Jellyfish, anyone??
Star at $50 per jelly they should taste great.
That seems like alot of money alone just for a tank if they send voucher for the jellies (3)and their replacements cost only $50. A 7gal tank at $360 WOW.

Re: Jellyfish, anyone??
I think some people keep really huge, venomous ones!
Here in the West Indies we have the infamous Portuguese Man o'War jellyfish. My daughter got stung by one years ago and almost died. In Australia there is a tiny one that is deadly too....or more than one kind!!!
What movie was it I saw last year or so with a guy who eventually killed himself in his bathtub with one of those???
They are amazing animals!!!

I used to see those all the time at the gulf coast washed up on the beach. Doesn't feel so nice if you step on one. I never thought people would keep them as pets :P

Re: Jellyfish, anyone??
Jellyfish were actually responsible for changing the course of my life in the summer of 1980. I was spending a year in Europe and had ended up on the Greek island of Santorini. I was staying in a little villa carved into the side of a cliff. Every day, my roommie and I would walk 250 steps down to the beach and swim/sunbathe all day. At night, we would hit the local restaurants and clubs. It was like living in paradise. Earlier, I'd lived on the isle of Crete for a few months cleaning a hotel and serving drinks in a bar. I had planned to stay on Santorini and get a job there. I wanted to extend my stay as long as I could, maybe even permanently.
But one day, I went for a swim and got 6 very painful stings on my back. A few minutes later, some snorkelers came out of the water talking about these lovely pink jellyfish. Apparently, they had swarmed in to the shore and decided to take up residence, so we weren't able to swim. With daily temps of 110 degrees, it's miserable if you can't swim. So I packed up and came home. If not for the pretty pink jellyfish in the Aegean that July, I may still be there.
True story.

Bummer :[ I don't blame you for leaving though. A) even 90 degree heat isn't something I want to be out in and B) jellyfish stings hurt sooo bad. And I've only ever gotten stung once at a time. Six at a time... OW!!
