Hi Forum,
Very excited about this new heat source that I bought on Big appleherp.
Its called Desert Rays Radiant Heat Panels
. Its for the top of the cage and it imitates
sun like heat without light. The biggest mat only uses 48 wats, and two of them heated my 6/2/2 cage in a couple mins to 84.8 deg..And now is coasting on a thermostat that I added
for safety. The mats have fusess if they shold ever shortout. And never really feel that hot to your hand, the warm every thing below them..
Here's a link Much cheaper than anything I ve used and are almost as good as them proheat panels that cost mega bucks..

I am orderin four more to replace some energy sucking 100 wat che's

They really work that well? I figured they were no different than running flexwatt around the tank. I bet you could get even more for your money if you put foam or some other type of insulater all around the back of it to direct more of the heat downward.

HI,
I understand your concern's , they actually are attached to the roof or top of the cage and radiate infared heat better than most che's .
the cage below was so large I was trouble getting the ambient above 82 now with the new heater matsin the ceiling, The hides, the floor even the back wall feels slightl warm. Like a stone feels after being in the sun.. My guyana's have been basking under it since installed, MY female Guyana is laying on her side like a beached whale,,Humm mabe she's gravid???? SHe did eat a couple days ago maybe she's trying to warm that food better.
I have heat mats under the tank , But when you stick your hand in the cage with this heat on it feels like sunlight on a warm summer sunny day on the top of your hand ..
