OK in the never ending war againist mites it seems there is another product on the market. Now personally I've not used the stuff but thought everyone may be interested in it. At the present I still use good Ol' Black Knight but maybe in the future I will get some of this stuff and try it. Also the place that has this stuff is in my home state around 20 minutes from my place and they run a clean operation, ask several from the site Lori, Herp_ Hag, Constrictor_BO, WildManWilly they can back me up. Anyway the stuff is called Reptile Relief and he swears the stuff kills mites on contact! So here's the link check it out!

I saw an article for that in Reptiles magazine this month. The stuff is cheap too. If you try it, let us know how it works.

Sure thing Morti! I'm still attached to my Black Knight though! I started to pick up a bottle the other day but chickened out.

i ended up getting some of that stuff when my BP had mites, and they came back after the mineral oil. i soaked a rag with it and rubbed the snake down, and off came dead mites. i then wiped the entire tank out with the rag, and i have not had a mite since, so all in all it works rather well. i also used it on a friends burmese 10 footer. sprayed it directly on him and it killed all the mites. we cleaned his enclosure as well and that aorked too. well i hope this helps, cause the stuff worked for me.

I bought this product a few months ago when my bps had mites. I was able to spray this directly on the snakes, unlike BK or PAM or even Sawyers. There are no ill effects from doing so. All the mites were killed on contact! I still you PAM or Sawyer's to treat teh cages though.

This Reptile Relief is a pump spray, not areosol so there are no fumes from overspray.

Thanksfully, I have only had to use it once, but the results were awesome! Mite Death on Contact. It is also relatively inexpensive at $9 at 8 oz bottle.

The company the makes the Reptile Relief is call Natural Chemistry. Their website is
Natural Chemistry

The active ingredients are as follows:
Diotyl Sodium Sulfosuccinate 2.1%
Undecylenic Acid 0.5%
Other ingredients 97.4%

Why are the odd ingredients always listed as other ingredients? That is the only thing about this that bothers me.

But like I said I treated the ball pythons (5 of them) several times (just in case) and there was no ill effects. The mites died with the first treatment, and the following treatments were basically a preventative.

i also have some of this product. it works very well, better than anything else ive tried. It says it is safe to spray directly on the snake but i rather spraying it onto a rag and then wiping the snake. I used on my albino burm and my BCI, and sprayed all substrate and wood products and have had no problems withmites since. I will continue to use it because not only is it available at my local petshop but also works good and isnt that expensive.
