hi!
Ever heard of "Mountain Laurel" ? Its a real plant that is very rigid and small. Being you are in New York as your profile states, you should be able to find some in the woods. you can use it dead.....but, at this time of year you could no doubt dig one up as winter causes a dormant event and keep it alive. They have very dramatic shapes too with few leaves & nice blooms too.
I had planned on posting a article about it on the forum..and may still do just that with photos too.
I would dig up 2 if you want to keep them alive and swap them out come cleaning time to make sure they get some sort of sunlight, allthough, they are a "under canopy" type of plant that doesnt require a lot of sun.
on any account..i hope you find what your looking for.
Roscoe has your best bet for fake stuff.... arts and craft store have the fake stuff too...but its more costly
