Rodent Pro.
Does anyone know where I can get small hopper and medium rats at a good price? I was looking at Rodent Pro and there shipping is crazy. I know they have to count in the cold packs and boxing. But for 25 dollars of rodents I have to pay 60 dollars in shipping. So does anyone know where I can get them cheaper?

Re: Rodent Pro.
Rich,
Sorry, I do not.
But I do have two suggestions: Local herp shows are usually a good place to get good deals on frozen rodents. Or find a reptile breeder or birds of prey facility in your area and see if you can piggy-back your order with theirs.

Re: Rodent Pro.
Where's Bay Point? Hook up with other Cali keepers that live in your area, do a big order, and everyone saves a ton on shipping. Plus, it's always fun to divvy up a box or two of frozen rodents. If there's keepers in your area, this is a great idea to get quality rodents and save a ton on shipping. I've used other suppliers, but none have compared to Rodent Pro. They're quality was just outstanding. The other guys? They came with feces on them, smelled horrible, and were just plain NASTY.

Re: Rodent Pro.
I go through rodent pro, but I order a LOT because their shipping is unbelievable. I have a big freezer and they stay fresh for a while, so I think it'll be alright.

Re: Rodent Pro.
Thanks guys. Great info. Im going to try both of those, Id like to do the piggy back just because it will save me big time on shipping. Bay Point is right next to Concord it used to be called West Pittsburg.

Re: Rodent Pro.
If you are ordering the larger rodents that have their fur coats, they should last 6 months to a year in the freezer. If you notice the shipping for Rodent Pro, they ship by the box (styrofoam and dry ice) and there will be a notation in the shopping cart that says how full you box is with what you have ordered. You can add a lot without adding to the shipping cost.

Re: Rodent Pro.
Man, everytime I want to reply to something I have to create a new profile for all these different forums... Anyway, we frequent down to the bay area quite often. If you need frozen rodents we produce quite a few. They are in vacuum packed bags and clean, clean, clean. We do not feed dog food or hog feed.. We feed only high quality rodent lab diet. I would also suggest contacting Lindy at Freedom breeder. He is about 1 1/2 hours from concord (provided no traffic). You can also contact Doug Price ( Price Animal Company ). They both breed quite a few rodents and supply a decent amount of breeders. Price Animal Company is located in Hayward which is about 20-25 minutes from Concord. We usually make trips down about every month or so. If you need good numbers just let me know. We do have wholesale pricelist for rodents.

Re: Rodent Pro.
You might give these guys a try. Their shipping is more reasonable. I think you could be ok with ground shipping with the amount of dry ice they put in my order. The temps in my package were something like -100. They have fast shipping also.

I order from Rodent Pro, but i order large amounts and put them in the freezer, and yes they will last up to a year. I put them in zip-lock bags and use as needed. It's time to put in another order my last order was 8/08.
