Thanks Nicole. Glad you like them.
The "mini hooks" are for mini-snakes
The bamboo hook started out to be just a way to offer really cheap cage hooks that didn't need to bear much weight...more as a novelty or just a cheap way out for parents to shut up winey kids at the shows...but the dang things hold up. I've got a couple in my snakeroom I use for copperheads that have been in service for a couple of years now.
The top boobie hook is a light weight graphite shaft with aluminum head hook. It's great for handling pet snakes in a controled area. The light weight means you aren't slapping them around with anything heavy. It sucks for trying to flip tin or anything though so it's not meant for use in the field. The middle one is a drag hook made for dragging snakes out of front opening cages or just guiding them around while they are on the ground. With a bit of wiggling, it can be used as a standard hook in the traditional way too. The bottom hook is a sturdy steel shafted hook with a stainless steel head welded to it. It's great in the field and can flip anything you have the muscles with which to make it happen.
The little pocket hooks, honestly, I don't trust them for venomous but in a pinch moving a baby copperhead off the road or something or plucking a pygmy off the side of the road and into a bucket...they are kinda convenient to keep over the viser but given the choice, I try not to use anything that free spins for venomous in cages or in tight areas. Outside where I have plenty of room to jump back...not a problem.
The little stainless looped handled cage hook is an ideal little light weight fixed length one piece through the handle solid little hook that is perfect for any baby snake up to about 2 feet or so depending on species.
