Not to step on boaphiles toes. but I have a couple of questions.
Until now, I've been keeping all my snakes in glass tanks but it's just getting too hard. you can't stack them. You can't connect them and to the most part, can't seperate them.
So, I've been thinking of getting something else... but although I'd like to think I know a fair amount on reps... I know nothing about housing except for when it comes to tanks.
What are my options besides boaphile? I looked at barrs which you mentiond but only found small 24''-12''-12'' cages. There have to be other good makes. right?
also. if there is no screen on top like a cage has. How do you give them light and heat?
and last, although nothing to do with me... I'm breaking my head trying to find a cage for my rtb... what the #$%^$%^$%^$%^& do you guys do with your burms, arp, rectics and so forth?

seany i too i have been keeping my bcis in glass cages. and i too have been looking at cages for several months now. i asked the same questions you are what is best for my herps?. and i talked to morti and jeff on the boaphille cages and got some reall y good advice. i have decided to go with one of the boaphille cages due to they are easier to maintain humidity they are stackable and jeff will put in heating for a nominal charge. and i kind of like that as far as light my girls are kind of light shy they prefer the ambient light in the room if it gets much lighter the just move to a darker spot. and the front opening is a plus for me not them my oldest girl hates being lifted up and out i think it kind of spooks her i have always used under tank heaters. so i have no experience with other heating sources. good luck on whatever you decide to get. The other choices out there are Visions, which to be honest, I am not all that crazy about. Visions are high-quality cages, but I see a few drawbacks to them. The first is that they're not escape-proof when it comes to small snakes. The second drawback is that the floor is grooved, making them a bit of a hassle to clean. The third is that the heat/light shroud is accessed from behind the cage. For a single enclosure, this wouldn't be a problem, but imagine what a pain it would be to move an entire stack because you have to change the bulb for the bottom cage.
Neodeshas are one of my favorites, and have been a staple in the hobby for years. The main problem here is that Bush Herp is going out of business.
My personal preference leans towards Freedom Breeder, although I don't yet use their system. They are available in sizes to accomodate everything from neonate corns to adult burms.
Habitat Systems also makes some good cages, but they don't appeal to me.
Also our very own Tom McCarthy makes enclosures, so you may want to check with him as well.

I went out an bout supplies to build my own cage tomorrow.. I saw a glass tank with LESS, WAY LESS room that ill have for over 200 more than i spent.. if u have any knowledge with building, i'd say its the best way to go about stuff.. Even if you want an all glass effect, plexi glass is pretty cheap and easy to use for an enclosure.. Same goes with screening..
