Re: Scientists Find Oldest Living Animal, Then Kill It
We have a winner! How correct you are. But isn't awsome to think that that clam started it's life around the time Shakespeare was alive. It was even around when Galileo Galilei was around. During this period Galileo made significant discoveries in both pure science (for example, kinematics of motion, and astronomy) and applied science (for example, strength of materials, improvement of the telescope). This just blows my mind. How COOL!!

That clam has been around since 1598. That is amazing stuff.

Re: Scientists Find Oldest Living Animal, Then Kill It
You'd think by now we could approximate an age on things without killing them.

I would love to live 405+ years.
Too bad they had to kill it.

America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She well knows that by enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standards of freedom. – John Quincy Adams (1821)

Not me! I was just thinking how that would probably be "my #$%^&#$%^&#$%^&#$%^&." Hopefully I've never done anything wrong enough to deserve coming back as a CLAM at the bottom of an ocean that can't die for over 400 years!!! That would just stink
