Re: Gray Wolves Returned to Endangered List
Awesome is right! Finally some sense. Wolves get almost as bad a rap as snakes do (which I guess is why they're my other favorite critter).
Now if they'd just stop the aerial hunting in Alaska, we'd be making some progress.

Re: Gray Wolves Returned to Endangered List
For a second there, I thought MPGT thought it was awesome that they were endangered again.. D:
Then I clicked the link. That is good, though.. I'm a hunter, myself.. but I'm all for species conservation as well.. these days, we need to focus our efforts on righting at least some wrongs our kind has done over the last century..

Hunters I don't have a problem with. The ones that fly planes overhead, run the wolves til they're exhausted, and then shoot them and leave them to die...now that is a different story.

Kick them out of the plane right into the middle of an angry pack so they can fight on equal terms'd be quite a bit better, I think. Personally, as a hunter, I don't see the point in killing a predator that you can't eat. I've never heard of anyone eating wolf meat, and most are just out for the skull and coat.. same with bear, very few people eat bear meat, and I just think it's a huge waste to kill something to use to little of it.
Or killing something for doing what comes naturally.. now I know wolves can be troublesome at times, I've actually seen the results of a pack that was teaching it's pups to hunt.. they brought down at least five elk in a man's field around here, and just left the carcasses there untouched, didn't even eat the insides like they usually do.. there's been other incidents too, but they're not that common. Still, it doesn't warrant killing them in huge numbers, either..

Re: Gray Wolves Returned to Endangered List
I'm glad wolves are back on the list. I was angry for so long that they weren't.
My grandparents hunt bears once every few years (the permits are hard to get, I guess) and they eat the meat. I'm not a big fan because it's really greasy, but it does taste good.
Although the first year they went bear hunting, they both got one, then there was a big snowstorm and the power went out and the meat spoiled in the deep freezer. That really sucked.
