Does it bother anyone else that they decided to see if these animals felt ACID BURNS ON THEIR SKIN?:cuss:

Re: Yet another reason Naked Mole Rats are just weird
Awww, how cute. Now I have one more animal to add to my list to cuddle with!
As interesting as the findings are, I cannot get past the experimentation on these innocent animals in order to make life more convenient for humans. The experiment could have easily gone the other way, and no one would think it's so cool.

Me.
I am against animal testing, and I agree with Star, this could have easily gone the other way.
I do think the results are incredible, but at what expense? who really cares that they are so insensitive to pain? let them be and live their lives...
i was going to say this before you mentioned it, but I didnt eant to turn this into an animal testing debate....

Re: Yet another reason Naked Mole Rats are just weird
I will not say it is right or wrong to test animals. I will only say that it bothers me terribly, and I feel sad when I read these kinds of threads. And also, now I want to cuddle with one of those little moles.

Re: Yet another reason Naked Mole Rats are just weird
There is a law that is surpose to prevent animal crulity.
Even when the animal doesn't feel pain.
How would they like it if they were dunk in to a tank of acid just to see if they felt pain.
I know they are tring to find cures for stuff all the time but still they don't have to be cruell to any living.

Is it just me? I find them distinctly un-cute.

Re: Yet another reason Naked Mole Rats are just weird
I see your point Star, but can't imagine cuddling it. I think I would have to cuddle just about every other living thing before bringing myself to cuddle that.

Re: Yet another reason Naked Mole Rats are just weird
Not everyone can be the penultimate cuddler. Maybe you can just take pictures of them before you feed them to your snakes.

Re: Yet another reason Naked Mole Rats are just weird
You know what? They have a face that says "Not for food" to me. I'm used to seeing rats go down the hatch, so I think I'll stick with them.

Re: Yet another reason Naked Mole Rats are just weird
True, she (or he) has never refused a meal. She would probably eat one of those things.
