Has anyone seen these?!
I like them.. im thinking im going to get one soon, as soon as i can get all my research in and all the setup stuff.. i have a 100 gal long that will last it a while, while its young, but will probably get a 250 or 300 gal before its over.. they stay relatively small.. about 40 inches adult size.. does anyone know anything about thier care? or anyone that keeps them i may be able to talk to about them?

Re: Brown Banded Bamboo Shark

I just know they need a LOT of tank space. That hundred gallon is way too small....he's going to need 3 or time that when he's big. They need a lot of open space to cruise, and I'm not sure what you can really house with them. How much saltwater experience do you have? Their water parameters have to be perfect.

Re: Brown Banded Bamboo Shark

oh i wasnt planning on keeping him in it.. i was getting one still kinda small.. and that would just be temporary until i can get my hands on a 300+ gal, which i will have custom made to suite its needs as far as the space it needs

i dont have a whole lot of experience with saltwater tanks but i dont doubt for a second that i wouldnt be able to handel it.. when i find something out im usually very anal about going by the books as far as care and stuff go, to keep my animals happy and healthy.

Re: Brown Banded Bamboo Shark

Just make sure you can keep your salinity and all that good stuff stable. You ought to have your tank up and running for a good 6 months or so so that it is nice and stable before you get a shark.

Re: Brown Banded Bamboo Shark

IMO I would get some other stuff before getting a shark to get a hang of saltwater tanks. Ive seen someone keep this in a 180 (too small IMO)

Two bamboo shars, 1 panther grouper, and an eel. This tank was too smal for them but Ive seen it done.

For one bamboo shark 180 will be a minimum and they will do fine in it with a LOT of water changes.

Good lord, did they have any idea how big a panther grouper can get? Too crowded IMO. *shakes head*
