A Few ???'s

I am BIG into reef tanks, and have learned alot from them.....some of witch are:

LUNAR afects the coral sponning(SP?) and general well being of the reef...

RO/DI water is a must....

we set up a L.E.D. with a lumans of 470 for the reef tank and use XM device coupled with a lunar program to simulate the 27 day cycle....and coral sponning is much better....and i was wondering if anybody has tried or concidered this for reptiles...

thx, chris

I have no doubt something like that has been tried before, but it was probably a long time ago. The care and breeding of reptiles has gotten amazingly streamlined these days, but back in the 70-80's people were really grabbing at straws sometimes. I know of a couple people that resorted to things like lunar cycles and (get this) tape recorded thunder to try to get their monitors breeding. With most herps it's just a matter of temp cycling or metabolism to get them going. I'd like to say we're still learning about a lot of these things, but I'm not sure it could get much more efficient than it already is. Who knows?
