That chameleon is gravid...she must ahve eggs inside of her..she is very very fat. The bad thing is that she is not going to have energy to dig (burrow) a whole and lay them. I would continue with the strengthening process and as soon as you see she has strength, put a very deep container and you dig the whole, like a tunnel so that she does not do it. Hopefully with this help she will lay the eggs and then recuperation will be key, because it is a process that will exhaust her. She will primarily need lots and lots of water.
wish you luck, keep us posted!!!

Ok this sux... I notice something else on this chameleon.
What is the lower jaws row of teeth supposed to look like. This ones lower row of teeth are seperated up front in the center where the tip of the tongue is. As is, this chameleon looks like it has two seperate sections of teeth on the bottom that is unconnected in the center/front of the jaw. I feel like they should be one continuous row all the way across the jaw but not knowing chameleons that good I want to be sure. I do not have a pic of it at the time. I'd hate to think this lil gal has a broken jaw too. If so.. what do you think the odds are here?

thanks tele..
Now I just need some input on the question about the lower jaw. Can anyone shine some light on how the lower jaw is suposed to be. If the lower jaws row of teeth are suposed to be one continuous row from side to side, this thing has a broken jaw. Im just not sure how it is actually suposed to be. It seems odd to me for them to have two seperate rows of teeth down there.

I do have to say that this little critter has a long road of recovery if she even makes it.
We had a little Veild Chameleon come into my work with the same symptoms. (Only that she was too young to be gravid.) Her tounge was prolapsed like this one and had multiple fractures in her jaw. (Yes, this sounds like a fracture in yours) She was put on Neo-Cal Gluconate suspension, calcitriol, and natural sunlight. She unfortunatly didn't make it. But I hope for a better out come for you and her.
Good luck!!!!

Ok. The vet said there were no eggs. This cham had some serious calcium deficiencey(MBD) going on and her system was not able to expel fluids causing her to bloat. With Calcium gluconate injections being administered for about a week, this cham seemed to get somewhat better and seemed a bit stronger. Stronger enough to be able to hold her head up . She could move herself around a tad but only with her front feet. I took her back to the vet and we found that the back legs(both) had bad fractures at the hips. She could move them some but was unable to use them at all. We decided not to prolong her suffering and put her down. It really sux to see such a good improvement only to find hidden problems elsewhere.
