Blind Ball Update
Well, the blind ball python has taken a few meals for me. Still no shed yet which is surprising. Of course, I can't tell if it is going into the blue or not. The very good news is that there seems to be no sign of infection and I got it on F/T. He is not that sharp, but eventually he crawls over the rat at some point during the night and realizes it is food.
I went for a native american sounding name. I call him "Titsonaboar" which I think translates to "useless".

Re: Blind Ball Update
Good sign that he's eating. BTW, if you know the words for "large" and "thread" too, we can start a new thread.

Re: Blind Ball Update
It's not that they have poor eyesight. Snakes actually are very sensitive to light and movement, however they cannot change the shape of the lens in their eyes. This means they cannot focus on anything. But combine motion with infrared info from heat sensing pits and smell, and you've got a pretty good way to sense the environment.
Funny name btw. Good thing snakes have such good other senses - sounds like he'll do fine without his eyesight. Og and glad there's no sign of infection

Re: Blind Ball Update
Good news. Well it LOOKS like good news, but I am not getting my hopes up. He has gone into the blue. The nice thing is that i can TELL that he is in the blue. One eye is blued nicely, the other is only blued around the edges. This makes me think that there are still spectacles there, so hopefully some eyeballs too. We will find out soon. I jacked up the humidity and added several nice rocks in the corners of the rack so hopefully he will have a nice shed. The last thing I need is a retain.
