Rescue Crestie
Okay, so I have acquired my first real rescue gecko. I was at work yesterday, and someone came in and askeed for Sam, said they had spoke to my boss about not wanting their crested gecko anymore. They wanted to give it to me, since I have experience with them and they were looking for a good home for it. So I told them okay. They handed me this gecko and I was shocked. The gecko is VERY small. If someone had asked me to estimate an age for it, I would have said maybe 4 months. Turns out, this gecko is 2-years-old.
I told them the gecko was probably only about 8grams, when it should be full grown, around 35 grams at 2-years-old. (when i weighed her at home she was 7.22 grams)
She's super tiny, but really pretty. the only photos I have are camera-phone photos so they dont show the colors, but this is her:
I am referring to her as a female for now, because she looks female. Although, she's small and could have never completely developed, so I suppose it's still a mystery.
she's set up in a quarantine cage with lots of humidity. She's eating CGD, so that's good. She wont touch crickets, because they never fed them to her, but I'm hoping I can get her to eat a few.
I'm just hoping i can get her to grow!
so that's it, just thought I would share
Wish me luck!

Re: Rescue Crestie
You know far more than I do on this subject. ; but she doesn't look to be too thin or malnurished to me. Could she just be a runt?
No matter what, I'm glad she is with you where she will be cared for properly.
Congrats!

Well, i guess it is possible that she's some sort of dwarf crested (though I really have never heard about them- but i believe JT said they can exist) but even with her body length, she's a little on the thin side.
Only time will tell if she will grow!
