, actively I mean. Just trying to get a list going here. I know that Ritchie, (bleep) & myself do..but whom else....AND if your NOt listing what you have rescued , that your not keeping for yourself..on rtb...exactly what are you doing with the rescues?? ALSO..are you just looking for fees on them to help cover expenses or actually selling the animals outright??

Well personally I am not taking in any more
rescues, I get too much crap from the b/f when
I do that.. unlesss it is in dire need and has no
where to go... however, I do still try to stay
active in helping place rescues. If I see an ad
in the local paper that looks like a rescue I'll
contact them and offer to help place the
animal, etc. I've found a home for a couple of
animals that way...
so, I guess I could be listed for "referals" or
something.
Whenever I placed an animals I took in, I
only ask for any initial cost I paid (like when
Raven took Maya, she was nice enough to
pay the $25 that I had paid to get the boa).
My iguana was picked up this weekend...
but he is going to a GREAT home, in that
particular case, I gave him, the enclosure,
and everything for free.
*IF* rescue is needed in my area, I can
temp. house and find a home, I prefer snakes only.[addsig]

I have kinda quit "seeking" rescues and adoptions but seem to keep a steady flow anyway. I will always make room for any snake in need of a home. I have a moral issue about selling rescues and adoptions....unless all the procedes go to charity....or because this site is such a valuable guide for new and old herpers alike...I wouldn't have a problem auctioning them off for the site. Always remember that the people that gave them up for adoption could have sold them themselves but chose to find someone with herp experience to make sure their pet went to a good home. If the snake isn't something I want for my collection, I will clear it with the previous owners that I will relocate it for free to an excelent home. But anyway, I can take in pretty much anything...I have plenty of outlets here even for hots. I will not keep any large pythons or anacondas...I have one burm and one is all I Intend to keep at this time. I will not keep any lizards...but like I said....I do have homes for them if need be.

I have been looking to adopt for awhile now. I check the mice on ice forums daily, if not more than daily...but, as I am sure you know, that board is bomb barded by a bunch of jerks that can't read.
I was going to adopt a Leo Gecko, but it ended up dieing before I could get it.
I don't check too many other sites for adoptions b/c they are looking for $50 or more for "adoption fees" (we've been through this already), and I refuse to pay that much to adopt an animal that just needs a good home...blah blah blah...yadda yadda yadda...you know how I feel if you read the post in Just Talk section.
I am looking for leo geckos, tokays, leaf tails; small sulcata(s), dwarf monitors, b&w Tegus, another BP possibly and maybe another chameleon. But, I am always up for anything else that may wonder my way. (king snakes, skinks, etc).
I hope that's what you are asking Lori.
Later!

UMM Let me clarify my post a bit... I'm NOt looking for who is LOOKING to adopt, just for the people who are actively seeking to bring in adoptions and find homes for them. [addsig]

i do that all the time. i'm the first person they call when something needs to get out.
i am even still doing in- WHILE in the process of moving! 90% of the animals i did and do take in i find homes for with some of my friends. if i do charge anything its for the supplies i bought- it does leave with the snake, or iggy. thats usually what i get.
HOWEVER- I NEVER GET REALLY LARGE LOOKING BOAS- THATS WHY I WANT WHAT BOABABE GETS NEXT
i see alot of kings and burms. the only think i kept recently is the baby albino king and the 2 iggys. the boa female rescue is looking bad still. im gonna go beat that guy up! j/k
i do not want to keep her, but im not gonna get rid of her in this condition. its a bad resp. she looks like crap. its like as soon as i got her she started to deteriorate- my luck
well- i do take 'em in. i do get good reliable homes. i just took lori's advice i put a posting on yahoo classified for adoption purposes. i am also gonna put one up on excite. i also talked with my local animal shelter- they come across everything. i'll take the reps. i really cant take too many iggys in- unless they're in and out.
anyways i kinda help out a lil bit. i dont make no money.
I STILL WANT BOABABES ADOPTION BOAS THOUGH! PYTHONS TOO

As most of you know, I take in rescues of all types of reptiles all the time. The only thing I charge is the cost of shipping, (vet also, if new adopter wants me take him/her). But finances are calling me to charge for housing if they are kept in my care for more than a week too. Things just add up too quickly, for example; gas for my car, pedialyte, food items, insulated boxes, pillow cases, newspaper, papertowels, Rubbermaids, etc. If they are in my care for more than a couple of days, then I make sure they are in proper enclosures, and that adds up WAAAAY too fast. The last two I just shipped out cost just shy of $30 only for shipping, so I can kinda identify why some places charge a little more, especially shelters that run fully on adoption fees and donations.[addsig]

I have been taking in and placing animals of all kinds for many years. I started working with the local humane society when I was still in middle school. Since then I have taken in and found homes for many animals..all free. Plus I have also done a lot of rehab work with wild animals. Up until about a year ago I was working with the top rehaber in the area. She asked me to speak on my work with squirrels and racoons many times at group lectures. I just never had the time! lol So in answer to your question yes I do help place animals, and I have never charged fees for any of them. [addsig]

Well, I wouldn't mind taking in one or two smaller rescues, but I'd have to ask for a small return to help myself out because I'm not made of money and have a son to pay for as well. But I do have one empty tank that can house a 4 foot snake nicely and a feeding tub that could house several small snakes or a slightly larger one... I want to help, and I would love to be able to adopt rescues to people on RTB! I just thought I'd throw my thoughts in to help take care of a small portion of the Northwest! -Dustin[addsig]

Actually I've rescued all sorts of stuff and they always seem to find me LOL...
I've got 2 ig's now, a monster female Central American Boa, a huge male redtail and one male ball python. I always try to find my rescues new homes but these guys all stay with me Actually the ball python is ready for a new home now, he came in very dehydrated burned on about 40% of his body very skiddish and wouldn't eat. 10 months later the burns are doing awesome *he looks like a piedball LOL* he eats everthing even cold thawed rats and is doing ver well. time to find this one a new home. I've always got room for more critters and I'm located in Central Florida.
