Got a new rescue/rehab boa in today. It has MAJOR MR going on also. Would have grabbed pics but forgot the digi to do that..UGH. Anyways.. There is a "lump" under the chin that seems to be located within the glotitis [ugh..splg ??] possibly. I have managed to move it upwards and when doing this can get some of the "crap" out of there as well also. Any suggestions to get it out at all more so possibly ? This is prolly the worst case of this I have as yet seen btw Snake doesn't seem to have any other health things going against it atm either. I spent a ton of time working on the MR tonite with Chris' help. So I shall check the snake even closer tomm. for other things possibly going on healthwise also. The snake has lost soo many teeth from what's going on that I can actually maneuver it's mouth to work in it without using anything even and not get bit by it while doing such..UGH.

You can't really put much of anything down the glottis that you don't want to end up in the lungs...so..just scrape what you can ...treat the gum and palet area with whatever antiseptic you are using and get him on some antibiotics asap. That's about all you can do. If he can't eat and has lost weight, he will need to be tube fed for awhile till his teeth grow back. He will likely need to be tube fed water too unless he is drinking on his own...Usually with severe mouth problems like this...they just let themselves waste away and die. You can help him though and unless he already has massive organ dammage from other infections, he should recover fine...just hang in there.

THANX Juls ! I didn't think so, but asked just in case was all. UGH.. I'll just keep working with him on that is all then. Applying some pressure to the under chin area seems to help , so I'll continue with that then also. Don't think it will hurt any and it does get some of that crap outta there even. I gave him Baytril [ only one I have on hand atm here ] already after I did his mouth cleaning when he got here. He's not underweight really, so that's a good thing then. BUT He is a teensy bit on the dehydrated side though. I was thinking of actually tubing some liquid down his gut tomm. even. I really don't want to wait too long on that and then find that he is dehydrated from not drinking ya know. THNX.. Hanging in there is all....

Ok.. I managed to grab some pics of this one tonite/last night. This one is the full snake...
This one you can see the MR in the mouth..YUCK...AND this is actually not as bad as it has been even....
YES, That is some blood on the flexo...it gets like that once I start working on cleaning it up some. I didn't break teeth or "cut" inside the mouth to cause that at all hehe.
The "bubbling" does not come about in the rostril until after I have been poking around/cleaning in the mouth a bit. It is basically made up of the same crap that the MR crap is. It actually comes about like that after I have started cleaning the top of the inside of the mouth usually.
Can see in this pic somewhat that the glotitis has been somewhat damaged also as a result of the MR. It has some necrotic tissue to it atm...UGH..
There's more pics/info on this page HERE.

Did the person who owned him ever look at him?!?
That is just awful looking, I hope it all goes well and your stomach is better than mine will ever be to scrape out all of that gunk, but we do what we have to for them right?
Good Luck.

Yeah J.. Believe this is the most advanced case I have ever personally dealt with even..UGH. Sure this one is not going to be anything close to an o/n thing in relation to eradicating this MR and becoming healthy again either. Good thing is the snake is active and has a good temperament, also so far.

DANG Right we do ! or at least try to do all that we can possibly even for them
Chris R has been helping out MAJOR with the rescue/rehabs etc that we have in atm also. That's a HUGE help around here with them all. Especially with more than one having health compromises too !
Thanx guys/gals for the input
