Not sure how bad he really is. I know they can die from a RI. Actually looks to have descent wieght on him. But if your that concerned with him, he is probably allot worse off than the pics show.

Ed.. Seems to have quite a bit of strength and also a decent weight/girth too [ In that he is not majorly underweight..his weight is not really a major concern at all from what i am seeing.. have seen worse before many times even]. This snake struggled like mad with three of us needing to hold him "down" while we checked it out. That's a good sign I think. BUT when we put it in the cage afterwards, the snake did not right the back end of it's body too quickly ..UGH. I was thinking that it was due to having exerted a ton of energy while we were checking it over etc and not just health related type thing was all. It did not do this until after we had "tormented" it in checking it out etc and did right itself, but slowly was all.
It has a MAJOR RI going on atm. Soon as I clear the mucous up, it re-appears instantly it seems. The snake was dropped off with no heating supply for it's cage. So I am assuming that it had not been on any type of heat either and that is how it got the dang RI in the first place even...UGH> That seems to be it's problem going on and hopefully we can fix that also.

Ok..is one seemed to be responding to tx that it was having for the RI the last few weeks time. The bubbling from the RI in the mouth had actually ceased to exist like two weeks ago. The snake was found dead today though in it's cage.
BTW.. The microbial on it's culture was pseudonomas..UGH.

Ya know, Lori, that just hurts....My wife and I spent the evening with Brett and Megan, showing her his collection, etc. etc. etc. Even got Max out for a photo shoot. My wife had never held such a big snake. It was quite up-lifting!! So, after getting home, I see this post. After the night I had, it just sucks to see something like that happen. I am out of words to express anything else. Sorry to hear about the burm...whoever had him/her needs to be shot. No heating? As you would say here, ARGH!!

Actually, It would be UGH! ala Charlie Brown. This snake wasn't very well off to begin with, and it didn't help that they were keeping this snake in freakin' 40 breeder when she got it... Morons.
How could anybody not have the common sense to know that a tropical snake needs to be kept at a high temperature? I could see if maybe they overestimated due to ignorance, that would be just human nature, to keep it at something like 95-100 degrees... Or maybe even something too low like 75-80 degrees, I could see that. But no heat? It's very scary to think we live in a society with people so stupid.

let me add another Arghhhh
ya know...I think probably 75% of all my failed rescue/rehab attempts have dropped dead weeks AFTER they seemed to have cleared up what was wrong with them....usually RI. I wonder if sometimes a clump of residual phlegm gets cut loose and just suffocates them after all other symptoms are gone. I haven't had very many die from RI...I'm sure we both have cleared up way more than we have lost....but these few that seem to do better then die anyway haunt us the most.

YEAh, Your right Juls. Think it's the " what more ..what else could I have done..or what didn't i do that i should have..what did I do wrong, IF I had maybe done this/that etc " thing that does it even. I know I have had many rescue/rehabs come through here and make it fully recovered for whatever "issues' they had and gone on to new homes..BUT it's the ones that don't make it that seem to leave their mark or a larger mark is all. Just gotta move on is all, there's always more rescue/rehabs coming through all the time.

Hmm .. A definate possibility that would make sense for the Ri ones.
