Im sorry this has taken so long...I guess I just forgot to update you guys. Please dont hate me...lol
Ok...as some of you know,I adopted a pair of adult yellow anacondas from Ed. Well...here they are!
Here is the female, "Lemmon Pepper". Sorry for the bad pic quality, but we dont really get close enough to her to get really good pics of you know what I mean...lol
We have been hook handling her at least 3 times a week and it has helped. She doesnt strike near as often which makes it much easier to clean her enclosure. Unfortunately she will never be a handleable snake, but a very nice dispay snake if anything. She is gaining weight great! She is feeding on 4 lb f/t bunnies every 10-14 days. She is prolly my most favorite snake to watch eat. Usually she will be on a certain end of the cage before I will offer her the food. I use my 4 ft tongs and dangle it over the far end of the water dish(this is how she likes to eat) and she will come over, dive into the water, wait a minuite, and strike about 3-4 ft of her body out of the water and grab it! I know it doesnt sound that cool, but if you saw it in person, it would amaze you! I hope you can visualize what I am trying to say...lol
Here is the male, "Col. Mustard". He is sooo freaking cute! I dont know why, but there is somthing about him that makes me think CUTE!!! He is doing very well. He is eating 2 jumbo f/t rats every 10-14 days and is growing great! He is semi handleable, but if he feels the least bit threatned, he wont hesitate to nab ya. I usually let him out of his cage and let him cruise around the room for a good hour, while I will lightly touch him and pet him(which I can ABSOLUTLY can not do with the female), using extreme caution ofcourse. This is really helping him get used to human contact. You can handle him with the hooks and tongs and he doesnt even seem to notice, but for some reason, prolly just feeding responce, if you grab him, like say to pick him up, he'll turn around and try to bite. He is doing much better and in time, I think he may be able to actually be held for longer than 2 minuites...lol
Anyway...Thanks Ed!! I love these guys, despite their naughtyness, and owning them has been a great learning experience which will help us for years to come!
