Rescued Boa:on live feed

Sorry if this seems Graphic or cruel of me to post. Don't get me wrong i love this fella. I wasn't sure where to post this,but i wanted people to see what happens when you drop a live food item in with your snake and then leave him be. This is a picture of the boa that has just come into my care.. He is 6.5 feet long and weighs only 5 pds. Hopefully he will poo soon so I can get a sample to the vet and treat for Paristes. He has been to the vet and is now on Baytril shots. I am treating wound with betadine 4times a day and ointment 1per day. He also gets 3cc of pedialyt a day from a dropped but does also drink on his own. I soak him 2 a day too. He has healed a lot,Thanks to the person that had him before me,but still has a long haul too go.. It saddens me, but he has a good mommie now. Will keep ya posted..

well this is a sight that no one wants to expierence so all of you out there that feed live this is a reason to stop. shy you are doing a great thing by rescueing this guy and i wish you the best of luck getting him healthy keep us posted

I personally feed p/k and f/t and with these pics and the ones that Hisba had it gets gruesome. If you want to email me more pics of the bites feel free....it's just my name and @redtailboa.net.......I'm trying to get an album together of just live feed bites so people will get the idea. Fazed1, if you got any and want to email them too feel free. I see he's in great care though. Big kudos to you shy!!!

That's great what your doing Shy! If ya need any input dealing with him just letus know. Some of us have had to deal with such end results of live feeds in rescue/rehab and would be more than happy to help ya out. I got a good solution to stop people feeding live. Lets put a rat inside a pillow case an drape the case over their head. Let them see first hand what a rat can do. If live rats arent good enough for them.. why should they feed live to the snake. This kinda poopy really riles my hide.
