Well, I figured I'd post some before and after pics of Yoshi, the savannah Monitor i rescued about a month ago...when i got him, he had several tail and spinal kinks, a calcium deficiancy, problems walking, and he was also severely malnourished and dehydrated.
he was about 6 inches when i got him..here are the before pics:

and after about a week, he began to eat on a regualr basis, and drink as well. He is now about 9 inches, and has developed a serious attitude...at first, he was very docile..probably due to his poor health. But now, he hisses and claws as soon as he's even remotley uncomfortable like any healthy monitor should.
He's bitten me quite a few times..but luckily he doesn't resort to covering me with his horrible poo.
He is now walking fine, and his spinal kink seems to have straightened out a bit now that he's under UV and is getting vitamins supplimented into his diet..
anyway here are the after pics:
(snoozin)

he has been on a steady beef and chicken liver diet..well, he's actually started taking mealies and crickets now, and gets some chicken and liver cat food every now and again...
oh, and here's a quick belly scan to show his bad tail kinks, fat belly, and dead tail tip:

(like the typical savannah, yoshi sheds in patches..that's why his stomache is dark and light..
I dunno if this guy will be up for adoption or not, but if anyone is interested, please make it clear now, so that if and when i do give him up for adoption, I can know who is interested..thanks.
(although me and my mom are so attached to Yoshi, I don't see him goin up for adoption anytime soon..)

I'm getting mine this weekend been setting up his new 75 gallon tank. what are you using for a supplement? what are you feeding him for "roughage"? the one i'm getting has been feeding on mice and crickets but hasn't had a full spectrum light or been feed frequently enough.

Talon, I'm using rep-cal right now.
I'll be getting some herpetive soon though, as it's the best suppliment IMHO.
roughage? do you mean greens and veggies?
from what I understand, savannahs are almost 100% carnivorous...although he HAS eaten some squash baby food...how big is the sav?
is it a rescue, or just a purchase?
I got lucky with Yoshi..alot of sick Savannahs are not easy to rehab...well sick monitors in general..
If he hasn't been feeding frequently, he may just need variety...try offering him some chopped liver..beef or chicken.
let me know when you get him, okay?
good luck.

Great Job He's looking really good.
btw...Fur and Feathers are natural roughage for carnivores.
