Rescue Veiled Chameleon
I went to go get feeders today and my friend, the owner, says that this guy was dropped off with his cage. The owners didn't ask for anything, they just didn't want him anymore.
He also has 2 abscesses on his head/eye. Other than that he is eating and acting great. He is beautiful!!!!!!!
Check him out...
Sorry the pictures are so blurry, he was on the move.

Well...
I took him in with me today to work and had surgery done to remove and flush the abscesses. It is a tear duct abscess that is common in chameleons.
I was so shocked at the color of the pus.... lime green like his skin. It looked like guacamole (sp).
After the surgery we got really worried because he wasn't waking up as nicely as we would have liked, but as soon as I warmed him up, he popped up quick.
Before the surgery he could open the eye that was affected. Now he can't.
I have to start him on injections on Amikacin and start oral Baytril. I also have to flush his sores and apply topicals twice daily.
Poor guy!
I'll get pictures of him in the morning when I do the treatments. I don't want to stress him out any more tonight.

****Update****
I took some pictures tonight when I did the little guy's treatments. The swelling has gone down a lot since the surgery. He wasn't too happy with me poking him and cleaning his wounds. He started open mouth hissing and vibrating.
