I was surprised to see this big boy had not been hit, I picked him up out of the middle of the road on the way to work the other day. He now resides in my bosses pond with another one twice his size.

His mouth never closed except when it closed while snapping at me. Which was every few seconds. This guy really had an attitude LOL.

Here is a pic to give ya size comparison. He weighed about 10 lbs.

Nice looking snapper!
The first pic looks like it has some old shell damage or is that just a lot of plant growth on the shell?
The last pic though...well...thats the fuzziest I ever saw ya!
Good thing too.
Certainly don't want everyone being confused over which ones the snapper!

Now THATS what I like to see... We need more snapper pics on this site.. 'fun fer the hole family' ...

As far as alligator snappers tho, all the ones I've 'dealt' with have always been about 3 times as mellow as commons... they seem to just sit and wait for you to get within 'strike range'... commons tend to flip out and 'try' to remove as much flesh as possible... Given the 'choice' tho, Id rather get bit by a common... ally'z if I had to guess, have about twice the 'jaw strength'.... Ive never been bit by a common, so thats just a guess.... alligator snappers, I have been bit by, and it really.....really........ really sucks, to say the least...

Actually I hear all the fire stations around here are replacing the "Jaws of Life" with large alligator snappers.... read it in the local paper..

Hehe, I think he is just upset because he didn't get any fingers! Those shot's came out really well... whose the photographer, the boss himself? Just out of curiosity, what camera was used?

hehe I took the first 2 pics.. one of the guys on my crew took the other. As for being bit by one of these guys.. I dont think that would be too nice, they could take a finger with them if they got ahold of it. You should have heard those jaws slappin together when it snapped at me which BTW was about every two seconds.

Hey NYC.. I used a Sony Mavica MVC-FD92 digital
