May 10th in Richmond, VA. Should be pretty good, and nice and big. 60,000 sq feet, 200 vendors. Check their site, www.nvre.org then click on the richmond show. Also, anyone from here go to the Havre De Grace, MD show?

I will be there, but if it's the same as the one that they had at the hotel in Richmond dont get your hopes up to high, unless you like colubrids. They had tons of corns, kings, and milks, but very little in the way of boids, only three or four tables set up. C&M was very high on pricing for supplies and feeders and the guy that was selling the glass cages was WAY over priced. I complain.... but I do love going to those shows.
I have been afraid to make the trek to Havre De Grace.... dont want to drive that far for a show like the ones they hold in Fredericksburg, VA
Nyte, have you ever been to Winchester Pet and Aquarium? I haven't been there in about a year but they had a great selection of animals and knowledgable staff. One thing that really impressed me was an adult iguana on display with a nicely made sign on the cage. On the sign was a pic of the iguana as a baby that said "This cute little baby will grow up into this big monster". They actually tried to inform me when I purchased a ball python there.

Actually, I've heard that the Fredricksburg shows are getting better-- there was one last Saturday, in fact. Two acquaintances of mine went and said that it was the best show they've had yet. So maybe there's hope. I think they've only been putting that show on for less than a year.
Also Stormy-- Winchester Pet and Aquarium, huh? I'll have to check it out. Is it a big store?

That's great that the Fburg show is growing!
It's actually Pet and Aquarium Shop of Winchester, sorry. (DO NOT GO TO PET CONNECTION!)
P&A of Winchester I think just moved to a bigger location, they used to be on Featherbed Lane over by the mall and I think they are over by Loudon Street now.
They had a decent size store and the prices were competitive.

Cool, Stormyva! I'll have to check it out, next time I go camping (it's on my way.)
Just out of curiosity, what brings you up to the Winchester area? That's kinda out of your neighborhood, isn't it?

I grew up in Northern Va (I graduated from Herndon High) and Winchester was one of our favorite "cruising" spots, along with Manassas, Sterling, and Front Royal while I was still of the cruising age. After high school I went to West Va Univ and my parents moved up to the Eastern Panhandle of WV (Charlestown) and when I went up there to visit them I always made a trip down to Winchester.
(I alway have to throw in the growing up in Northern VA so I dont get accused of being from WV... no offense to anyone from WV ) Vegabetabacktogooo or whatever her name is also has had some dealing with this same shop in Winchester. I think part of one her clutch of boas last year was sold through that shop and I know that she was VERY wary of selling to a retail store.
I got this ball python from that shop......

Oh, I didn't know you were a former Northern Virginian!! Now I don't feel quite so alone... Cruising from Herndon to Winchester, huh? That's kind of a drive for me, but it's nice to know there's a decent shop out that way. So far in No.Va, I've only come across one store that seems really good ... about 20 min. from my house.

Yeah, the Fredericksburg show has only been about for around a year, and they are actually moving it soon, i tink to Prince William County to a better location. They got tired of trying ot heat that tall roofed chicken barn with a leaky roof. Same ppl are promoting the Richmond show, and he has some big names on the bill. I can see how Havre de Grace is a treck from VA Beach, and your right, prolly not worth it, unless your already up that way. I am still looking for a worthwhile pet/reptile store anyplace in the central MD area. I am in Frederick, MD, and the closest we have is one local pet store, but they rape you on prices for everything.... $3 for a small frozen rat... You get the idea. I still have hope that either a decent one will open, or I will hit the lotto and open one I know there have to be a lot of herpers in the area, but i never get to meet many, but then the only local club I know of is the MD herp society, and they pretty well stick to Baltimore.

Nyte... if I remember correctly there are some decent shops in Hagerstown and also at least one in Winchester.... neither one of those is too far from you if you are still in Frederick, MD.

The shop in Winchester is the one that pincess and I were discussing... the same place that the bp in the pic came from. I dont recall the name of the place in H-town... it's been a LONG time. Sorry!
JohnnyB.... sounds like a good idea on the Richmond thing. I have not forgotten you on the rodentpro order either. My mother passed away a couple of weeks ago (she had been battling a very long list of diseases and illnesses for the last 2.5 years) and I have not gotten around to ordering the rodentpro stuff. Will drop you a line when I do though.
