Disturbing sight at Repticon
Well, my wife and I drove 3 hours this morning to Spartanburg, SC for the Repticon show and were not impressed. Unless you were into hots, there wasn't that much, there were a lot of health issues and we were amazed that we saw only two bottles of hand sanitizer in the entire place. I did find a pretty little Dumeril's that I will post pictures of soon.
As were getting ready to leave, one of the vendors dropped an extra large live rat into a cage with a Burmese to feed live right there during the show. We were appalled that someone would do that right at the table during the height of the morning attendance. Some people...........

Re: Disturbing sight at Repticon
The idiot is just doing it for attention, and breeding the dumb idea of "I'm owning a snake because it's cool to watch them kill and bite stuff!"

I'm sorry... I wish all herpers would be more publicly responsible for the views they're putting in people's minds. It's disappointing.

Re: Disturbing sight at Repticon
Arrrghh!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like the show was a bit of a bust then huh? We had thought about going down there but opted out and went to a NRA gun show instead. It wasn't much better IMO.

Re: Disturbing sight at Repticon
First let me say that I am sorry you did not enjoy the show but ....
We had 100 tables, ONLY 40 of which were venomous the rest were non venomous.
There was a little of everything there to see and buy. I am not sure how many of what types of animals there were . I can say that if you were looking for Boas everyone was waiting on babies.
If anyone is looking for anything perticulor at our shows please feel free to email me and I will find out if there will be any for sale.
As far as the vendor feeding during the show, I agree it was not a good thing to do during the show. If you remember who it was or where they were , I have no problem asking them not to it.
Most vendors keep their hand sanitizer behind their table.
I have asked numerous times when people see something not right to bring it to our attention THEN and There that way we can get it fixed. I am always there, you can find me at the info table and if I am not there then who ever is covering for me will have a radio to call for me. Can't fix what we do not know about.
People have to remember that this is the first Repticon show in Spartanburg and I think we did well for the vendors and the attendees.
Thanks for attending,
Cathy

Really? We were asking around for some, especially after handling a large redfoot that, once we picked it up, we discovered that it was obviously sick. I have never been to a show before that it was not in plain sight and that most vendors required you to use it before handling their animals. A note for the future, perhaps.
