im very interested in BCI's but i dont know whether to get one or not. This is going to be my first snake and im only 14 but not many other snakes appeal to me. I'd really like a BCI but if im not experienced enough than mabey i should go with something else.

Boas are very nice and docile. I have never even been struck at by mine, but it does depend on the snake. They have a nice size to them too, not too big not too small. Very nice snakes. I just purchased a ball python a while ago, and they seem to be very nice as well. The size aspect of the ball python is probabaly nicer though, and balls are docile as well. I personally like the pattern of balls better, but boas have such nice skin compared to the python's scales.
If I was in your shoes I would go with:
-BCI
-BP
-corn snake

first snake and you want to jump with bci ? im not going to get into this but whatever floats your boat..
as everyone has said already make sure you get the snake from reputable breeder. if you can go local your better off incase something happens to the snake. also when doing inspections you want clear eyes, strong muscles etc...
let us know what you get and make sure you post pictures. it's an unwritten rule.. =)

Buy a corn snake!! They are wonderful as a first snake to own. They require easy basic care and aren't fussy. They don't get as big and impressive as a boa or ball python---BUT they are beautiful AND are very docile. Usually excellent eaters--mine are anyway and just overall COOL snakes.
good luck!

I say a BCI or Ball IF you have space for a potntial big snake (hopefully). Corns are squirmy and are fragile when they are small.
Have you ever seen a small corn? http://www.aqualandpetsplus.com/Snake63.jpg
Not a big fan of corns just cause they are so tiny.
Sorry to all the corn lovers
